I love this site, but here's a minor gripe:
Over the course of time, I've added front/back scans for all the cards of specific smaller sets -- for instance, Topps On-Demand or factory-released Topps team sets. However, since I don't have Level 8 permissions access, I do not have the ability assign a sample card for the set whose gallery I've completed on the site. Now, I'm not saying anyone and everyone should have the ability to assign sample cards, BUT if I'm the one who did all the leg work of adding quality scans for all the cards in a set, I think there ought to be some sort of provision allowing me to choose the sample card. Not so crazy, right?
Thoughts...

Eh, not sure. I've added some smaller sets, too, and do not have sample card adding powers. That might be nice, but I think it's useful for one All-Powerful Wizard (Admin) who has knowledge of other sample cards in other sets to be the one to pick that particular honor. You don't want Aaron Judge to be the sample card for every Yankees set across the board and for other sets, as well. That's the sort of thing that could happen if five different people input relevant sample cards. If one person does it, it might lead to greater variety.
Maybe if you just had the power to suggest a sample card preference, to be approved the Admin, it would make everyone happy. I'm all about making everyone happy.

Sure, I don't care if the admin has to approve the choice, but I think it would be nice to give the person who adds every image for a set gets some sort of say.
Again I'm not advocating for all-encompassing willy-nilly power. Just in the specific case where you add every card's image for a particular smaller set. I don't think that's rocking the boat or compromising the quality or integrity of the site.

I have, on occassion, requested a different sample be used, especially when I was the upoader of the entire set, and the respectful request was always granted.

I've asked for the same, and Admin obliged

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Try asking a member that can add Samples to add the card you want. I've offered that opportunity to many members when I noticed that they added every single scan for a checklist. I'd be happy to do it for you if you ask. Just tell me the year and brand/set and what # of card you want as the Sample. If I disagree, we can discuss why and eventually get a sample card posted.
I usually just pick the best-looking scan or a great action-shot card for a sample, as long as it represents the main design of the set. But that changes by the set and by what scans are my choices.
