Hi.
I know we've had this discussion a few times with the "any scan is better than none" people vs. the "don't scan beat up cards" people. And the answer, like so much in life, was somewhat grey: if it's a rare, old card, go ahead and put in a scan of a wounded card, and note that the scan needs to be replaced. It's a judgement call on what counts as old enough and rare enough.
I've been working on the 1971 Topps Baseball Coin set, and very few had been scanned in, especially the backs, for some reason. I've scanned a bunch of good ones in and that's all well and good. But now I've got a few where the backs are rusted and pretty beat up -- readable, but not at all pretty. Since they're 47 years old and no one's put them in yet, I'm thinking of scanning these in, with a note that the scans should be replaced. Any true veterans (sure, my designation here is "Veteran," but I don't even have level 7 permissions yet) or Admin object to my approach here?
Cheers.
