sorry, title should say Collection not connection!

Hi, new here (and to the hobby) and loving it.

One thing confuses me a little, the pricing for cards. I read the FAQ and understand how it works, but am not sure when or if one would ever price their cards at the collection level.

Perhaps if you were only willing to sell the card for a price other than the median reported price?

Pricing is whatever someone is willing to pay that day, not what any website says it is.  Recent eBay sales is the closest you're going to come

The pricing listed for single cards have all types of prices added to them (actual purchase prices online or in-store, book value prices, prices people have seen cards sell for at auction, etc.). For collection values, if you use the Detailed Add or Edit Details for cards you own, only you will see those prices and it doesn't affect the single card median. Most people use that to keep track of how much they have spent for the cards they bought. I'm sure others use it to list what they'd want to sell it for also, but only they will see that info. My way is to put the book value of the card, then I know what percentage of that I want to buy or sell a card.

If you enter a price at the collection level, the price will be attached to the card so long as it remains in your collection 

If you price it at the card level it will contribute to the median price but the price you paid won't be reflected in your collection, just the median price. For instance, I can mark a card bought for $1 bit if there is a higher median price, such as $2, it will show as a $2 card in your collection. Just a personal preference on how you want to do it. Personally, I like seeing the exact price I paid.

I've started changing the price on the "collection level" of cards I move into my For Sale/Trade list.  That shows up for all members to see when you have the "card level" of a card pulled up and see the link to ###mentions in collections. Clicking over to that takes you to the "collection level" data for everyone that has the card listed in their collections.The 3rd section down shows the card in members' For Sale/Trade collections.  The prices are rarely edited so they just default to the "card level" "value", but some of the prices are different which should reflect what certain members would accept as payment for their copy of the card in a sale.  Hope that all makes sense.  That's just how I interpret/use the system.
