Hi All, searched through the FAQs and forums but couldn't find answer.
If it is a graded card, should the scan crop down to just the card, or is it ok to have the whole slab?
Thanks,

I believe cropped is preferred.

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

anyone have advice on scanning slabs? When I try to scan and crop to the card in the slab, it looks terrible. Any tricks you can share?

Is this a graded card that was issued "Graded" or a card you own that was graded after raw issue?

I have both scenarios. Some like leaf Valiant and others that were issued graded in box, and others graded aftermarket from raw card.

I don't collect graded cards....BUT wouldn't you want the grade info, like 9.5 and who graded it. ? So why wouldn't you want it cropped to the slab?

Because the images on this site are supposed to be of the CARDS, not the protective plastic grading it. That's why the question was asked if the card was issued graded or was later graded. If it was somehow issued graded, then you'd crop to include the surrounding grading materials, I assume. If it was graded later, you'd crop to show only the card -- generally frowned upon, I think, unless it's a rare card that might not otherwise have an image posted here. Thus, I when I scanned my 1887 Old Judge for the site, I cropped it down to the card, and cut out the grading slab, and I think that was ok because it was the only image anyone had posted here. It didn't turn out tooooo badly.... And I was going to add a link to my scan, but I had also marked it as needing replacement, which some wise soul did in September, I just discovered.

for my persoanl collection and website i keep the slabs in the picture of course for the reasons you stated. That said, i have a large amount of particular players that are not in the database website here that i was going to upload over time. wanted to see best way.
