I looked through the FAQ and I don't know if there is a way to search a Forum, so aplogies in advance if this has been answered before.

Are there standards for entering birth cities, states and countries. ?

1) Queens, The Bronx (or just Bronx), Brooklyn, etc are boroughs.   On some bio pages, I see  

a) City:  Queens  State:  New York

b) City:  Queens, New York   State: New York

c) City:  New York State: New York  (for a person born in Queens)

2) Should the city, state or country be entered as it is known today or at the time of the person's birth;

Page lists Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, but in 1946 Hawaii was not a state, it was Territory of Hawaii

Another example is Peking, now Bejing.

3) And there are pages with London, England and others with London, United Kingdom.   

What is suggested ?

It should be what it was when the person was actually born there.

A person born in Queens should show Queens, New York, USA.  New York, New York should be for Manhattan only. 

London would vary based on age. 1707 and older the country should be England. 1708 and newer should be Great Britian. 

Queens is a borough (and county) of New York City.  A borough is just a division of NYC with its own administration. The New York City boroughs are also their own counties.  Manhattan is New York county not New York (City), New York.  And technically speaking the name of the city is New York City not New York.

Charlestown Mass. is not a town. It's part of Boston. But, don't tell the townies as the old timers call themselves that live there that. You might get a beating. 

To me I have no problem with Queens, NY vs New York City, NY as a birth city listing.  Both are correct.
