Sometimes it seems like work on the database will never end, but little things do add up.
For the first time since I've been paying attention to such statistics, the Racing category has joined Boxing at 100% of the listed sets having checklists.
It probably won't stay that way for long, but I'm going to enjoy it for today at least....

That's cool Tom. I've done several of them and added some sets that were completely missing, but I know you've added way more than me. Thanks for joining here and helping me whip the racing section into shape. It's MUCH more complete now than it was when I joined a year ago. Plus there are at least 10,000 more card images that have been added in that time. I don't know how many scans you've added so far, but I'm somewhere around 8,000 just in Racing.

Thaks Adam, but I can't take a whole lot of credit yet. I've only been actively contributing for a few months so far. Billy Kingsley has probably been the single biggest contributor to the racing section.

I know that Tom, and he's the reason I'm here. I didn't know about this site before he told me about it. I have done as much as I have time for to cover everything he didn't have info on. Billy is the #1 reason the Racing section has so much info in the DB. I'm doing as much as I can as fast as I can, but I need a break occasionally. I know you have SO much more info about the racing cards from the 1980's and 90's than I do. You are the early-years guy and I'm working on the recent years. Along with Jerry (echo7bravo) and the other Tom (stewart20fan55), I think we can all get the racing portion of the DB to be the most comprehensive/informative section of the entire site. I love this site and can't stop adding info, corrections, scans, etc. I take a 3-5 day break about once a month, but the rest of the month I'm constantly working on something here. I did have all glossary definitions added from 2013-2015. But someone came in and added some more notes without using commas. Therefore the glossary AND the notes are now all messed up. I'm glad someone added the info, but I wish it had been done the TCDB way. I've spent the last several hours correcting much of that, instead of adding scans. On a good note though, I found more cards that had the name wrong so that it wasn't linked to them. "Junior" does not link a card to someone whose name ends with "Jr." (ie. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr.). So much time wasted fixing those cards to make it link to the driver. Wasted time sucks, but every bit of time spent working on the site is enjoyable to me. I'll continue to do everything I can to make this site as accurate as it can be!

Spaz,
You could add Dale Earnhardt Junior as an alias for Dale Earnhardt Jr., and the cards would link. At least for sets added going forward. The others would still require going to each set's Name Validation screen, but nothing would have to be done manually beyond that (if I remember right -- I took a few months off from the site but got back on this week).

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Is that why for some drivers, a card subject of 'X Driver's Car' automaticly links to the driver and others don't?
Is setting up an alias something we can do ourselves, or is it just like submitting a new name?

Lea DeFoote:
Adding an alias is done on the same screen where you would add a person's birthday. It is just a place for a secondary name that a player might have on cards, to save a lot of extra manual matching. Like Rich Gossage/ Goose Gossage in baseball. It's especially useful in wrestling cards because names like Jim Duggan/ Hacksaw Jim Duggan are very frequent. But it can be used for anyone who has two different names that show up on cards. Also good for guys with initials for names, like RA Dickey/ R.A. Dickey, where some people enter him with periods, and others don't. And anyone with the proper permission level could do it. You, being a frequent contributor, probably have the right level to add an alias.
