Is there any way in "My Collection", the Print Center - for the "Don't Have's" - to simplify the list if desired to eliminate the variations? For example, 1990 Donruss Baseball has 3 or 4 variations per card. I have no desire to collect all of the variations, i just want 1 of each card, regardless of the variation. Can a filter be added to show a "basic view" for all of the cards in a set? So if have have variation a, b, or c etc...then that card would not show up on my "Don't Have" list? Hope this makes sense.

Makes sense, but sorry, no it's not an available feature.

Right now the Don't Have list shows all the cards you have on your Want list and cards you have not put on any other list.  There is a request to have all the cards on ones Want list removed from the Don't Have list.   New Feature Tracker | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com)   The request ask to change the name of the Don't Have list to Don't Want list.  All the new card for said player would be added there as they are added to the site.

So If I understand correct if you put  card X on your want list with all of the Var.  When you get one of then you can remove the others from your want list  but they will show up on your Don't Have list.  Then you use the Don't Have list to see any other cards that have been added that you may want.  Yes you will have to go through all the Var.

Yes, sort of. I don't use the "Want" list (at this point anyways); I just simply enter the cards I have by set/year, then print the list of "Don't Haves" to show what I am missing. In sets without variations, this is a very simple list. But these wacky sets with 2, 3 or 4 variations - the Don't Have" list is cumbersome to view and requires me to manually line out the variations of the cards I have. Seems like a pretty simple programming filter to just see the "Basic Set" version, or allow the "Master Set" version to be the viewing option.

You can always put in a new feature request for this filter.

 There is always a work around.  That is what Admin has told me.

Turn trading off  so you will not get any offers.     Then move all the Var (you do not want to see) to your want list and you do not need to look at them.

There is a lot of ways members collect and use this site.  It appears Admin is trying to help by adding new features all the time.  It my look simple but only Admin knows.  We have several new feature requests about adding filter here and there that has not been done yet.  My understanding is Admin is very busy working on the site to improve it.
