Starting a topic that can be searched later on for reference since it came up a few times recently and we just had 3 more IRs about it....
I'm leaning on the Panini experts and IR resolvers to help assist with this one, but can we come to an agreement on how these Panini Rewards exclusives should be added to the database across all the different sports? I'm seeing each of the following:
1. Inserted into the rest of the relevant checklist with "EXCH" in Note1 and "Panini Rewards" in Note2
2. Listed as a separate "Panini Rewards" Mail-in set and kept separate from the pack-only checklist (which could potentially mix multiple inserts under this one set)
We currently have a situation under 2021 Panini Elite Extra Edition where cards are duplicated in both places listed above.

I think #1 makes the most sense because once cards are removed/sold out from the Panini Rewards site, I don’t think there is an easy way to tell if a card was packed out vs a reward exchange. From the baseball side, the Elite Extra Edition sets have had reward cards from at least the 2009 set if not older. Not to mention the confusion of Panini releasing some inserts from one year’s set in a future set because the signed cards were not released in time.

Yeah, this is a tricky subject, Ed. It's hard to know what to do with these. If people KNOW the cards came from Panini Rewards, the answer is simple. But people getting those cards second-hand have no idea that they were Panini Rewards cards. Also, all the options that TCDB allows us now for searching cards by number makes that search easier. I kinda like how the 2021 Panini E3 cards are listed on their own as a "set". But at the same time, I would think that adding the Rewards cards as a singular Promo card for each brand would make more sense to find them easier. I mean, they are basically Promo cards anyway since they weren't pack-released. It's just not obvious on the cards that they were not released in packs. It's a tough call, so I hope to hear more replies from others on here. Personally, I'd lean toward solo Promo cards if this was my site.

My vote would be option #1. Otherwise I think it will be difficult for people who get them second hand to find where they are.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'd also like to hear from @ColinS and other resolvers that have worked on those sets.

I agree with this and my vote would be option #1 as well. The edits I have made regarding Panini Rewards have been in this manner as well.

I wanted to share a little project I worked on in regards to Panini Rewards. If you have ever navigated their website, it can take a while to find what you are looking for as content only loads when scrolling. Given hundreds of items to redeem, it can take a while to load and view everything. I created a Google Spreadsheet with data corresponding to the different categories (sports) offered on Panini's website for Rewards. Each sheet contains the following columns: Year, Player, Set, Status, Points, URL, and Image.
Year: Year associated with card, if available
Player: First name last name of player associated with card
Set: Name of set in which card belongs; year associated if available
Status: "In Stock" or "Out of Stock" status
Points: Number of points needed to redeem
URL: Direct URL to card on Panini's website
Image: Direct URL to image asset used for card on Panini's website
Please note the data presented on Panini's website is about as perfect as their manufacturing process. Data may be missing or inaccurate. Hopefully this can be useful for any users or resolvers if not just myself.
Feel free to access here and let me know if you have any comments or questions.
