I am sure this has been brought up a 1000 times before but ........ I was hoping there was a way to add sets without listing all the individual cards in my collection. Or at the very least have the ability to have multiple collections in our profiles. I do not want to add all my different sets cards into my Ranford Collection. I know you can use filters etc but I was just hoping I there could be a way to keep all of these seperate. Is there anything I am missing or am I screwed?! Later bubs I'm off to sit in the dark and try to catch a meteor or two. =)

I'm with you on this. This is the reason I've only entered my complete sets (or sets I am working on) here. I've actually had trades complete for my PC and had to remove those from the collection because they don't "fit in" with what I'm tracking. Yes, if I actually entered the PC, TC, and sets, it would be so confusing. I had been contemplating a second ID to track the PC and Team collection. Not sure how Admin would feel about that. But this has been a topic of discussion, and the question I always bring up is what makes a "set"? We have too many examples of sets with SPs that sometimes cards 1-300 is the "set", even though there are cards 301-350 that can only be found 1 or 2 in every box. So do they count in the set, or no? Do the variations? What if it's like the 1979 Topps baseball set, which has only 1 variation, does a complete set only count with the variation? And honestly, this really comes down to personal preference. I have some sets I call complete without the SPs and I have some sets with the SPs (that I wouldn't call complete without them). So, I even flip flop on this. :)
It's tricky as heck, and getting consensus would be virtually impossible. Obviously, Admin would have final say (as always), but as I said in the other thread that has this a while back, by doing this we're trying to track an entity (set) that is made up of a group of smaller entities (cards), but the definition of what is the "set" is murky. Believe me, I wish it wasn't, because I'd love to have a feature like this!

For cards in my collection that I want to view grouped in a way that a database search won't do, I make a List. That way I can include cards in a PC list even if database guidelins won't allow the card to be linked to that person, and I can organize the list in any way I want (e.g. from common to lowest print run), I don't have to settle for everything being alphabetized by set name.

All I was hoping for is a way to list complete sets as such .... just the sets, so in my profile we could have a "Sets Owned" tab and then it lists them seperate from everything else, just like keeping my collection seperate from my wantlist. Make sense?

If all you are looking for is a list of your complete sets, there is a report for that on your Collection page, look towards the bottom;
Reports
Is that what you need?
(Sorry, these links go to my collection, you'll have to check yours to see how your sets look.)

Complete sets are available in Reports, but not as a tab. I like the idea of complete sets separated, like Unopened Material is separate. And if we do get Complete Sets as a separate category, I'd like to see collated/factory annotations.
And yes, it makes sense. And yes, it has been discussed before.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

A complete set listing would also be helpful for those of us who have a complete set to trade and won't break it up. Listing each card would really be pointless because if you get a trade request for any of the cards, you'd have to decline it.
Ideally when you have each card checked off as part of your collection, it would automatically create a Complete set listing. But I'm not sure if the technology exists to do that.
I personally only consider a set complete when I have all numbers made, including SPs. Variations- planned or not- don't count to me, if I have every number then the set is complete.
Of the 3 complete sets I have to trade- and I don't remember where I put them so I will decline to list which sets they are- none of them have any variations or SPs, because that crazyness didn't really affect 1990s base sets.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. For me all my needs would be the "base" sets as that is all I try to get, so I do see your point everyone, what is a considered a "complete" set. On those reasons alone I can understand why it has not been done to date. I will not try adding any sets for that reason but if something in the future makes it possible then I would do it in a heartbeat. I will only add the cards I need to finish any sets to my wantlist instead. Too bad though as cataloging only part of my entire collection was not what I wanted but it is nearly impossible to make this place do absolutely everything for everyone. =)
