Has there ever been discussion or ideas of creating an ID for brands, much like players and teams?

There are various spelling discrepancies with some company listings (R & J Hill and George Bassett have a few differences).

Also, many companies listed here are linked to specific franchises (i.e., Rittenhouse Game of Thrones, Rittenhouse James Bond should not be separate "brands", correct?)

Is there a way to tidy these brands up for easier user searches?

That would be ideal for the New Feature tracker. Not sure how easy it would be to retrofit the 388,000+ sets to that, but it sure would be ideal to have some sort of option list rather than 100 different ways of entering it by 100 different people.

"Rittenhouse Game of Thrones" and "Rittenhouse James Bond" are not brands. Rittenhouse is the brand and the rest is the set name. If you come across them in the Brand field, submit an IR to correct.

Understood, that's unfortunately a lot of sets to fix.

Same thing with all the Star Wars sets

Until earlier this year, the Brand field wasn't available to every user that had enough permissions to add a set, so you may see a lot of older sets (especially Non-Sport) where the Brand incorrectly matches the Set Name. Just gotta fix them as you see them. The easiest way to go through everything is Browse > (sport/section) > Sets and scroll down to the Brands under each letter. Wherever you see things that should be cleaned up or combined, fix them or submit IRs.

Yes, I know. I've come across so many that were incorrectly created with the full set name in the Brand field.

Has this idea been submitted as a new feature request? I would definitely put it near the top of my list of rankings.
