Here is a Promo card that was issued to promote a set of cards that was serial numbered to 2999. This Promo is printed with characters that represent what would be the serial numbering on the cards in the set, but as you can see, the Promo is printed with "XXXX/2999", it is not numbered serially.
Rudd Promo
So, does this count as a "SN2999" card? Does the "SN2999" note mean only that "/2999" appears somewhere on the card, or does it require that the card actually be numbered serially?
I know what I think, but I want to hear it from you too.

Wonder if the print run on the promo card was 2999 also? I would list as PR2999. But others might think differently

i haven't seen the "xxx" before.. on non promo cards, you'll see just the "/2999" for a PR.. since this is a Promo. not sure if the meaning was to show as an example that will be 2999 distributed and the "x" will be an actual number (1/2999; 123/2999 etc) or that it will be a PR of 2999. Since you can add a card as a Promo, i don't see any harm listing as a PR2999

That would not necessarily be the print run. Most likely, it's NOT, else they probably would have used sequential numbers on the promo cards.
Using PR2999 in this case would be inaccurate. Also, using SN2999 would be inaccurate as there is no serial numbering going on.
Putting "xxxx/2999" in Note2 would certainly be appropriate.

I highly doubt that there were 2999 of those produced, so I would not use PR or SN. I think "Promo Card numbered xxxx/2999" is the best description, but that's just me.

I added that card. I didn't know exactly what to do b/c it was unlisted at the time and there were no other promos for the Red cards. I'm real confused about this set now though. Was Totally Certified its own set with red's being the base OR were the red's, blue's and gold's parallels to the regular Certified set. The checklists match each other, as do the designs. Plus, info I find says the red's were inserted 2 per pack and the blue's 1 per pack with the gold's being 1:37 packs. Also, the Totally Certified CL's are listed twice, once in the set and again as inserts.

Yes Adam, Totally Certified was a separate product from Pinacle Certified. Red was the 'base', Blue and Gold were the 'parallels' That was discussed here:
Correcting 1997 Pinnacle Certified
I submitted the inaccuracy reports to Admin yesterday to have the extra checklist cards deleted/merged as apppropriate. They do not belong in the sets. I think I had done it once before and only one set was fixed. Maybe Admin thought the bunch of similar looking requests were duplicates.
Now, back to the topic at hand. Since the XXXX/2999 on the promo card only represents the numbering of the cards in the set and is not actually a serial number, I believe that this card should not have the "SN2999" note. If a few more people concurr, then I will remove the note.
I wouldn't be too worried about this issue if it was only about this one card. The problem is, I have three additional sets of promos for this product to list, all printed with the same type of representative numbering, I want to get it straight before I list them.
Thanks for your input.
