I'm a bit under the weather so this might come off more harsh than I intend. However whenever you add a checklist complete with teams, PLEASE make sure you list the team as the Oakland Athletics and not the Oakland A's.  The code for the site does not recognize the "A's" as a team and it takes more time for those working on team validation to fix this error. The same goes for the thing above the "e" in Montreal.  I don't know what it's called but while it hasn't been a big issue it still pops up from time to time.

Since the glossary seems to be pretty much done, maybe people can start helping on team validation for the various sports.  As it stands right now, just the baseball section has over 16,000 checklists that need teams added or validated.  The biggest ones are the Japanese teams (which I don't know anything about).  Some can't be validated because certain teams haven't been added to the database, but otherwise, I think a lot of them could be cut down if people work on it.  I can't say what is left on the other sports as I've been working on soley on the baseball ones since that is what I am most knowledgable at.

Sorry for the rant, but as I said, I've been sick for a week, and the Oakland A's thing has been bugging me for months so I figured I'd finally say something.

Sorry about that.  I've been adding checklists for certain sets and apparently Panini believes in putting A's on their cards/checklists and not Athletics.  I'll make sure to update their information going forward prior to adding it to the site.

Jupiter, the thing above the "e" in Montreal is called un accent aigu; if it pointed the other way, it would be un accent grave"; and if it was like a little hat, then it would be un accent circonflex.  Of course, then there is the cedille under the "c" in words like garcon" to make the c soft.  Just a bit of a French lesson seeing as you are under the weather.

For the Montreal thing, maybe ask admin to add the accent as an alternate spelling so the system will process it. The formal spelling uses the accent so it really should be included

I don't think its just you, it was others, but I did notice a lot were from Panini.  I wasn't trying to specifically single anyone out though.  I feel better today and feel bad for ranting like that yesterday.

Thanks to the others for the history lesson.  As for the alternate spellings, I wouldn't mind it to be honest, it would work for teams that sometimes use shortened names (like the A's, or KC Royals, or if people spelled out Saint Louis instead of St. Louis).  As long as it all redirected to the main name.

No worries.  I'm just trying to do what I can to help.  If I'm doing it wrong or there is a better way to do it, how else would I know unless somebody tells me?  I'm not that sensitve.  :)

The best advice I can give for uploading checklists is to go into the checklist once it's loaded and ensure that the players and teams are verified. If there were any misspellings or abbreviations used, that check right away will catch them before someone else catches them. I forget which checklists I was uploading and there were mistakes in the player names - direct from the mfr's web site! After checklist #1 was submitted, and fixed, I fixed it in my file I was using and then uploaded without issues the subsequent checklists.

We have enough checklists that still need player and team validation. If we could get the new ones to have it immediately, that would help not create more of a backlog.
