I have been a loyal beckett.com member and user since 2002. During that time, I have been subjected to countless updates, revisions, outages, and just plain misrepresentation. Granted, the site is a wonder to behold when everything is working correctly, but members can never 'rest assured' that their time, effort, and money are being well spent. I have a rather large collection and I am ridgidly OCD when it comes to identification and inventory of my items. Recently, I have begun to realize (finally) that my love for this hobby is constantly being put in check when it comes time to "work" with it. Therefore, here I am, on the front steps of this site and thus far, liking what I see very much. My question(s) to you members: 1. First and foremost, how would you rate the overall reliability of this site, meaning, does it operate as promised, and if occasionally not, is there direct and honest communication from the folks who run it, as to why and when it will be fixed? (This is by far the Number One area where beckett fails relentlessly.) 2. Is there any sort of limit to how many items I can have in my collection? 3. Is there any kind of policy or censorship regarding subject matter of a collectible card which a member might wish to enter into his or her collection?

Welcome! You will
find this sight
much much better
than Beckett. I
bailed on their
website circa 2003.
This site is almost
NEVER down. For
less than a minute
each morning, at
5:17 AM each day,
it locks up for
under a minute- I
presume that this
is when the daily
update is made,
however, it's never
been a big enough
issue for me to
bother the Admin
about it. I have
been spending all
day every day on
here for over a
year and I've only
seen it go down
legitimately once-
and the Admin had
it fixed in under 6
hours. That's a
better rate than
Yahoo or Facebook.
The Admin staff is
awesome. They
actually listen to
us, the membership,
and if we come up
with a good idea,
or a correction of
information, they
actually
implement/fix it.
No limit on
collections, either
size or subject
matter. The
Database allows
everything,
although sets with
adult subject
matter do get an
opt-in blocker to
keep children from
seeing them. I love
this website. If I
have my computer
turned on, I have
at least one window
open to the
Database at all
times...sometimes
more than one
window. Usually one
on whatever I'm
uploading at the
time, another for
my stats page which
I constantly
refresh to see the
changes, and
sometimes a third
for research or
just to look
through galleries.
Hope that helps,
Billy

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. As Billy said, welcome!
I got on here about a year ago because I was out of the baseball side of things for about 20 years (but was in the hockey side during that period). So I needed to see what I missed as I was playing catch up. Plus, it became a nice reference for some of our single player collections. I already had a pretty extensive database set up in Access, but why bother, it's all here.
As far as downtime, I don't remember seeing any, but I do notice slowdowns once in a while (takes a page about a minute to load instead of the customary 5-10 seconds). And that could be our proxy server at work (I don't remember if I have seen that at home).
The information here is not 100% complete yet. We're all working on it. Teams need to be added to most parallels, pictures need to be added for many cards.
The Admin is great at handling suggestions and fixing errors. If the suggestion CAN be implemented, it usually is, and is implemented fairly quickly.
Worth the price - oh wait, it's FREE. If you shop on Amazon, click the link on the main page - at least it helps the site a little. Well worth being here.
So, grab a seat, check out the sets. If you see a mistake, report it, and it'll get fixed. Welcome aboard.

Billy and Dan, thank you. I have hoped against better judgment for many years that I would find a place to properly give my collection, and my love for it, a good "home". Let's get to it then.....

Billy and Dan are
right. So far this
site has been top
notch and the admin
is great when it
comes to listening
to the members. I
have also bailed on
beckett for
anything other than
occasionally
checking card
prices.

This site has been phenominal as far as I'm concerned. I had found it on random just by questioning if there was a site similar to my coin site for me to document my cards too. Since then... my coins kinda hit a back burner. there's more to do, you feel a part of the process, and everyone here is friendly! we are all willing to pass on any knowledge about our cards or yours if you haven't a clue what they are. try it out, give it a spin and see how you like it.
also, take a look and read the "to do list" in the site forums. there you can read over everyones suggestions and what has been looked into or added. also, pay attention to administrations signature.
From what I've found, The Administration of this site are open and willing to take any and all suggestions into consideration and as of yet, I have never seen a negative response to any. If you feel you have an idea to make the site better in some fashion, voice it.
Welcome, Jon, and I wish you the best as we all get to know you and your cards :)

I am amazed at the reliability of this site. I am a retired IT professional and I know what can and does happen to data and websites. This site seems to chug along splendidly. Any questions that I have asked the administrators have been promptly responded to.

I just discovered this site within the past week and am very pleased with how easy it is to enter/edit your collection. I am excited to get my entire inventory from all sports and even non-sport listed here!

When I started looking for a site to keep track of my collection I found this site right away. After 5 minutes of browsing the site there was no need to keep looking

I have to say, since I've joined the site, I've enjoyed it a lot. It is laid back, and more about the cards than it is about trading/buying, even though you can do that. My only issue is that there are a lot of sets that haven't had checklists submitted yet, even though they are a couple years old. I can't spend as much time as I'd like trying to scan everything, let alone submitting checklists. I just wish there was a less time-consuming way to submit these checklists so that the site is more complete. But then again, if it isn't my time, it's someone elses. It is what it is, but overall it is a very worth site for organizing your cards.
