Is it absolutely forbidden to submit a card that has self asked signature on it, that is not original? I was thinking to add comment like "This card has signature written on it that is not original. Better scan needed as soon as possible". That way there would be at least something to see on database before someone replaces a better scan. Does it sound ok? I personally think that lousy scan is always better than no scan at all.
I wasn't so smart as a kid. :) Fortunately I have only 5-10 such "spoiled" cards that doesn't yet exist on database, so it's not so big deal. I can live even if it is absolute no no, but just wondering...

I have added ONE autographed item on here and may get in trouble for it but first it has to be found. I will admit I broke the rules but it is a very unlikely item to ever be added to the DB in the first place. It is an Edmonton Oilers postcard issue of Bill Ranford that I think is the one that was sent to me by Ranford himself and came autographed so to me you can not get any more original than that. I am not 100% sure anymore as I think I have two that are autos. Long story short I would say for mainstream items it is a no-no and if it is 100% no I will accept the reprimand and accept it being taken down. Better to be honest than a liar I say.

My autographed cards (especially the ones I obtained in person) are the best cards in my collection (in my opinion). Personally, I love them.
However, the guidelines here state that they may not be uploaded for the general scan. You may scan them and there is a way to showcase your own cards (I haven't explored that, so I can't assist in finding the method). One of my minor league sets was almost completely autographed. I submitted the checklist because I had the cards, but someone else provided the scans because technically, I shouldn't.
Unless it's a 1/1 you got autographed, I'd hold off. Or ask Admin directly. I know we've "overlooked" a few really poor condition cards scanned in because the feeling is exactly - it's better to have a scan of a poor condition card than no scan at all.

You can create another entry in your collection and put the scan in there. It will only be visible to you and in your collection. It is how I have this list but it does not affect the database..
http://www.tradingcarddb.com/List.cfm/lid/1703/Detroit-Tigers-Non-Certified-Autos
When viewing a set hit collection summary, update your collection, select haves, on the little drop down menu for the card select detailed add (or add another to collection if you have an unautographed version already then detail add that one) and in the detail switch autographed to yes. You can then upload your own scan to this new entry. It will only be viewable in your collection and will not affect others entries in the database.

Yes, that's an absolute no to altered cards. Only images of cards the way they were released.
You can add personal images to your Collection. At the set, choose Collection Summary, then Add/Update. The dropdown menu next to your cards will have View/Add Image option.
If you go to a card's Listed in Collections, you will see any personal images. Check out 1970 Topps #50 collections and you will see my personal autographed card. Click on the image in the column and a full-size image will open.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I think the one that was made specifically for distribution at an autograph session should be ok to picture with the signature on it.
I put one up that had a similar situation:
Hi-Tech Irvan
This card was made for Ernie Irvan's fan club, and many were signed and sent out as thank-yous to fan club members. That seems to fit the criteria that the original issuer distributed it signed.

The one Bill sent me personally was similar as I sent him a letter asking him some questions about Edmonton Oiler hockey cards and players for research reasons. He was the NHLPA rep for the team and he sent the non-sponsor one back. Not a fan club by no means, just a stanadard issue (policy) that all the reps (have to) do when replying ot fan mail I gathered at the time.

Thanks everybody for the answers and information. I'll scan at least backsides to database. Hopefully someone scans frontsides someday.
I don't scan them here for personal use as someone thought, because cards I was asking about are not part of my main collection. I am just going through my miscellaneous cards and filling blanks here in database. Just trying to be helpful.
