I know this has been discussed, but did we ever come up with a solution for keeping PIDs of identical individual and non-individual names seperated?

For example, keeping Wolverine the comic character from having wolverine the animal under his PID.

I'm working on the PID to do list for non-sport and came across Red Wolf, the Marvel comics character. He has a PID and that also picked up cards featuring the animal, the red wolf. I deleted out the PID number from the animal cards, but it seems like it just picks it back up anyway.

Usually we end up with two PIDs using either different names or parenthetical descriptions. In the case of real people, the middle name or initial is sometimes added, as with Will Smith and William Thomas Smith. In your case, one might be Wolverine (Marvel) and the other simply wolverine or wolverine (animal). Admin will create the appropriate PIDs if you point out the issue. 

No, I get that. But unless something changed, then I didn't think animal species were supposed to get PIDs. Do specific species get PIDs? Like "wolf" shouldn't get a PID, but should a more specific "red wolf"? It was my understanding that PIDs are for unique entities and not names that describe a group.

Red wolf wouldn't get a PID either, but if there was a red wolf that was named Wolfy Wolfenstein, then Wolfy Wolfenstein would get a PID. But cards about red wolves would not get PIDs. Cards about wolverines should not get a PID either, although there are cases where it will get linked to the comic/movie character.

When a set gets auto linked to PIDs that should not get links - please follow these steps:

1. Click the check names button (auto linking will occur - do not do this again after Step 2)
2. Remove the PID from all cards that have erroneously been linked
3. Ensure all other cards have the correct PIDs or do not have a PID (if that's correct)
4. Click the report inaccuracies link and ask Admin to "Verify the Names "As Is" (and that if the Check Names is clicked, it will auto-link PIDs we don't want)."

Admin can then "work their magic," as I call it, and validate the names without the incorrect auto-linking recurring.
