I guess we'd all be better off if we just did our sorting on the floor, since that's where they end up anyways.

I actually do my sorting on the floor. As I get older it's getting harder to sit "Indian style" then it used to, but I still suffer through. (and then complain about my legs hurting for several days afterwards). A few years ago I dropped and damaged a card SN 20. My one and only silver parallel from 1996-97 metal hurt more though, as that set has way more sentimental value to me than almost any other.

Sometimes I wonder if I even like cards anymore!

It's that getting back up off the floor part that's so hard though, Chuck!

Used to sort on the floor when I was younger, but my back cannot handle me being on the floor for more than about 2 minutes at a time these days (I have some serious disc issues). Having been paid to sort cards since for about a 13 year duration, and doing that mostly on tables, I have become pretty good at not dropping them or stacking them too high. With accidents come experience. :)

We have a console on our reclining couch, so I put the binder on my lap and put the cards on the console. Works out pretty well. However, I tend to sort my FS/T on the floor, as I have them in shoeboxes.

We seem to forget that this is a hobby and not something that is life and death.  I don't mind sorting. I do a lot of it on my lap or at my desk that has pull-out side tables. Yes, it is frustrating if some get knocked over or fall to the floor.  But not the end of the world. As for entering things into the database, organization is key. In that I seem to always be chasing new ways to organize but I am getting closer to keeping things organized.

I've been odd and I love to sort cards, even others' cards. I've sorted a friends cards to get him organized and back into it.  I'm still waiting for my brother to bring me his old racing cards for me to sort through for him.  I either do it at my desk in my home office, or on a small folding table in front of the couch.  I have all my sets in boxes, except for my team sets which are in binders by decade.  If I could find someone to pay me to sort cards, I'd love it.

Do you have a sorting box? I have 2, and they have 10 comprtments In them for sorting. I usually prop it on an angle when I put the cards in them.

I put up a second table, and it's made sorting cards much more fun and easy. I did hurt my arm by making the stacks too high and constantly reaching to the top. It was the first time I tried sorting that way, now I learned better. The stack was more than 1000 cards high. When I do my ultimate collection sorting, in a few years when I finish scanning everything, that will require the floor. Too heavy for the table, talking 150,000 cards.
