As we've discussed before, we all have varied reasons why we joined this site. I was looking to find checklists that would help me identify the Phillies cards out there so I could catalog my Phillies collection. I had been given 150 or so cards from the 1960s and had a pretty nice assortment already from the 1970s onward with a smattering I obtained of the 1950s.
Last night I finally finished entering all my Phillies cards (into my Philadelphia Phillies Collection, of course). I have NOT marked everything I don't have as a want, but it essentially is. I only mark higher priority stuff (such as team set completion cards) as wants. Of course, there were a few items in my collection that aren't listed here (and shouldn't be). But here are some interesting (to me) stats based on what is here:
6,849 - Unique cards / items listed on TCDB in my collection
1,141 - Different sets the items are from
1951 - first year of items (every year from then is represented)
7% - the percentage of all the baseball cards out there for the Phillies that I own
If it wasn't for Admin making multiple collections happen, this wouldn't have happened. Only took 5 years. :) (Actually, only started adding stuff less than 2 months ago, and really ramped it up within the last 3 weeks.)
Another cool fact - since I joined the site, I completed all the Topps Phillies sets from 1955 - 1978 (except those 4 cards that have been well-documented [63 Herrnstein, 66 Jackson, 67 Bunning, 67 Rojas]) along with several other team sets from 1991 to present from all manufacturers. (I pretty much had 1979 Topps - 1991 "big 5" already.) But it was thanks to having access to the info here that I was able to know what to pursue. So, thanks TCDB and everyone who has contributed something to it. You all rock!
