Do you have this text in a file somewhere so you can just copy/paste it here? I think this is about the 10th time I've seen you post this.
Does this mean I should upload images of cards as the top card in a cello pack?

I understand the point you are trying to make, but why not take it a step further and scrape those pesky serial numbers off of cards too (as only the cardboard matters). Should we all peel the protectors off of our Finest cards? Card collecting is a subjective thing open to opinion and interpretation and rarely has absolutes. I would make the argument that a set like 2000-01 Fleer Authority Prominence (or 2000-01 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection) where cards were graded by the manufacturer as part of the set release, the card grade is part of the story of the card. For example, I am a player collector. In the Prominence set for my player, there were 75 serially numbered cards that were graded by BGS and inserted into packs/boxes. Of those 75 cards, there were 9 cards graded 9.0, 49 graded 8.5, 16 graded 8.0 and 1 card graded a 2.0. Personally, I would love to get that one card that graded a 2.0 because I feel it's an interesting story that a card direct from the manufacturer could grade so poorly. So I think there are instances where the slab is a part of the card and is worthy of display on this site.

Oooops looks like this is thread chosen to discuss the guidelines/rules. =)
Opinions are absolutely accepted here but in the end the maker of this site, the Grand Pooba in a sense has mandated that cards are to be scanned not photos. Their site so I honor their guidelines/rules. Its that simple.

I totally get that. And I've got an email into the Grand Pooba himself asking for clarification on whether using a scanning app qualifies as a "scan" or a "photo". I want to be 100% in compliance and respect the wishes of the site-maker. It's a great site and I wish I had discovered it years ago.
That said, if you look under the Frequently Asked Questions regarding scans/photos, it says:
- Do you accept photographed images of cards?
-
For images of cards that are added to the general site, photographs are not accepted. This is to maintain an even quality in the images. Some of the problems with photographed cards are image skewing because of the lens angle and lighting irregularities because of the flash or ambiance.
If you are using the site to track your collection, you can submit images of your cards into your collection. Photographed images are fine in that case.
As someone that uses this site almost exclusively to track my own collection, it seems that photos are fine in that case. So there is some gray area here and I wish people would seek understanding rather than act as the "rule police". This all started because I was trying to be helpful to some other collectors who were having the same problem I was. I simply presented an alternative solution to buying a new scanner or uploading blurry images. That's all.

meeker99 - if you want to add photos of your cards for your own personal collection here, that's fine. (Just like I added a bunch of aftermarket autographed cards that I got in person, which are also not permitted as the site images.)
But, let's be realistic here, a scanning app is simply an app that "makes a photo look more tlike a scan". It's still a photo, which can have other issues besides the out of proportion shaping.

I'm not taking a stand on this issue, but did want to point out here that you are able to add photos of cards to YOUR collection. If you have a card in your collection, you can add an image to YOUR card in the Collection Summary > Add/Update > View/Add Image
This does not become the image that is used by the site but is visable by you when you click on that card.

Maybe that's where my confusion lies. I didn't understand the difference between adding an image specifically into my collection and adding a general image for a card in my collection. My apologies to everyone. Like I said before, my intent was never to circumvent the rules or be a bad steward of this site. I was simply trying to be helpful to those encountering similar problems as myself with, what I thought was, a reasonable alternative. It is clear I was wrong. I will upload new scans tonight where I have inappropriately uploaded photo scans (even though they might be a bit blurry) or I will simply report them to have them removed. And I have reported my original post to the Admin to have it removed so as to not mislead any future readers with my ill advice. Again, my apologies.

Hey meeker, first off no hard feelings for me ok, I agree with Dan though on the app designation as the rules stand. I am glad you have sent a message to Admin as the site is always changing. I have not heard of or seen the app and I am sure Admin will look it over a decide for themselves if it is usable or not. And also you have caught a glitch in the guidleines that no one else has and that is it is able to be confused by wording on the site. Not everyone reads things the same way, thats a simple fact. So if that needs a peek at by Admin, explain yourself to them and see where it leads. I have made statements that had things changed for the entire site and I have also had three word replies, which I am sure you can guess meant no. LOL. Enjoy and use and again, I appreciate the apology but in the long run we are all just looking out for the site itself. If my wife figured I was "police" she might make me dress up or something. =)
