I am honored to have been selected 2017 Rookie of the Year by the community.
(stepping to the podium; speech in hand)
Last January I learned that my brother-in-law was actively building a 1965 Topps baseball set. As a kid I collected countless cards across all four sports, however, as high school progressed my interest in cards waned. By the time I went off to college I was essentially done and went a solid two decades without purchasing a single pack of cards. His endeavor interested me and motivated me to complete the 1986-87 Fleer set I had started in the early 90s. In reacquainting myself with the hobby I sought resources to help guide me and a simple internet search led me here - TCDB. I created an account and poked around as I worked toward completing that 86-87 set but had no intention to resume collecting. This site, however, re-sparked the collecting fire that had once burned so bright in me. From searching the shelves at Target, to scouring the web, to attending local card shows, I pursued my new-old interest. This site is THE reason I am back in the hobby and I am ever so thankful.
I want to thank all of the contributing members who have devoted time and effort to making this such a wonderful resource. The example set forth by those who contribute scans, checklists, edits, etc. drove me to learn the ropes and contribute as well. And of course, a big thank you to Admin, without whom none of this would be possible.
In the coming year I hope to become an active trader as I finally list my Trade/Sell list. I hope the trading process brings me into contact with more of the members here.
In conclusion, thank you for the award, and happy collecting!
