I agree that only the original Hoyle set (and commerative set) should be listed, the rest are Broders basically.

broder or not they are cards and allowable. after spending endless hours on the other collectible guide they fit the definition of other playing cards, i believe. plenty of broders are listed on tcdb.

They are not Broder-type. They are outright counterfeits. The PDF file for the card set was stolen off the Dept of Defense server. The person that stole it sold copies of the PDF file on ebay and Amazon. Then he had a set made and sold the sets on ebay and Amazon. Then hundereds of the people who bought the stolen PDF file got in on the act and had sets produced and also started selling them on ebay.
So, just like we don't list counterfeit Topps cards, we shouldn't list any of these counterfeit sets.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

My step-son brought an unopened Iraqi Most Wanted Commemorative deck home from the war in Iraq. He can't remember where he got them and said Tikrit, Fallujah, Baghdad or Sadir City. Point being: the Hoyle cards were produced to meet troop demand for these decks and sent to the embassy. I would have to believe the authentic cards have a higher value than the knock-offs and agree, they should be their own checklist including the trademark jokers.

That is not the set that was handed out to us in Iraq. I have 3, and they came from the Kuwaiti embassy and say so on the front.

Now I am confusesd, 1. The cards with Saddam's head is a repro. OK? right? 2. Now I thought the "Iraqi Most wanted......" were the real ones. Now I find out that neither set is real, both repros, ?? So does someone have pics of the real sets?

You're right, the reproduction commemorative cards by Hoyle are not the government issued cards. My stepson may have gotten a deck or two while fighting in Iraq, but gave his dad the reproduction cards as a souvenir. It's hard to ask him anything because he suffers from PTSD and has lost his memory. He served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Very confusing, but from what I read, there are less than 200 original decks printed and distributed by DIA and CENTCOM. They contracted Liberty Playing Card Company to make a few thousand to give to the troops at the embassy, but they could not produce for commercial distribution because of the use of Hoyle trademark jokers.
Thanks to all who sacrificed and served our country.

The government inadvertently used the Hoyle Joker, thus unintentionally giving Hoyle copyright to the set. The only authorized sets were printed by CENTCOM (approx. 200 decks), Liberty (ordered by the Kuwait Embassy), and Hoyle (commerative set).

I'd have to dig them out of my attic. They are with all my military gear.
