This looks like it should come from the 1993 Ted Williams set, but it's not the same as card #1 that is listed. Is this a variation, or something different outside the set?

According to the checklist, the promo is numbered #1, maybe that's what it is?

I have this one that you have. First time I see a variant as per the database. My books on Baseball cards state that the promos, though not marked as such are easy to identify as the name on the front is in green versus the orange used in the real set. Obviously yours (and mine) don't qualify for that. I can only thnk that it is a variant that was not previously identified. One site I found says that the one in the database is the promo card but, again it does not qualify with the name in orange like ours. I have not been able to find a picture of the supposed promo with green lettering for the name.

The #1 card image in the database has a different back than your card and the other card backs in the database. Compare the copyright/trademark lines at the bottom. Your card matches the other cards in the database.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

C2Cigars, what's the difference in the card backs? I'm not seeing it. The copyright on my card is 1993. From the listings on Amazon and Ebay, the version I have seems to be the more common. Perhaps the card I have is the true #1 from the set, and the card currently listed is the promo?

I would tend to agree that the promo card is what is currently posted with the set, and the card presented here is the actual #1 from the set. The other card does have a slightly different color for his name on front and the copyright information is organized differenty. Also, over at COMC, there are over 20 copies of this version of the card available for sale, but only a single copy of the other one.
