Hey guys, need help
with this card from
1996 Collector's
Edge Ice - Livin'
Large insert set.
How do I figure out
what team this is?
It appears to be
the Bruins (duh)
but the set will
not let me pick it
as it must be a
minor league set.
If it is a minor
league team this
is, it would have
to be the Maine
team as it is not
the Moncton one (as
per card back)
Anyone have any
ideas on what to
do? The other
question is the
number on the back,
it clearly states
2667 but I can not
find any info as to
why. Both the
Charlton and the
Beckett have
nothing about it
being a SN card.
Charlton does state
that another insert
set is SN to 2000
but nothing for
this one. Any good
ol hockey gurus out
there with any
help?!?! Thanks!!

...He was already an NHL player at that time. That must be a Boston Bruins jersey, (Duh, lol,) And I sincerely doubt it to be a Minor league one. You may just have to manually enter in the Boston bruins team. as for the 2667... Not sure really. If someone else has that card and could share a scan for compare, maybe it's the same each card?

I would agree with Dixxy that you'd probably have to manually add Boston Bruins into the team list.
I don't believe he played for Providence at any time, so even though it's a minor league set, he may not have a picture of him playing in a Maine jersey. I would put it under Boston Bruins myself.

Collector's Edge was known for removing pro logos off jerseys and putting players in cards with blank jerseys. That was also how they did their serially numbering at the beginning, just the number, not the production run. To find out how many were printed (and based on the number you have, I'd guess 10,000 or so) you would need the packaging.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I beleive the team listed should be the team that the player was associated with at the time. If it's a minor league set, he must be associated with a minor league team in the set. Does Ranford have a regular card in the set? What team is he with? That is the team I would choose. Lots of cards show players in different jerseys than the team they are associated with at the time.
Just my opinion.

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Some of the Collector's Edge Ice insert cards are of NHLers who did not have base cards (IIRC). They are a unique animal.

The Livin Large set does have some players in their minor league uniforms; Martin Brodeur is pictured wearing a Utica Devils uniform.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

By the looks of
Ranford's gear and
helmet I am
positive it is from
the beginning of
his career ... hell
those look like my
dads goalie pads!!
I went ahead and
put it as the
Bruins for now as I
looked up the Maine
team that he played
for and I'm pretty
sure that's not
their jersey. I'm
pretty sure it was
the Maine Mariners
he played for and
not the Providence
Bruins. And if this
canuck is correct
Providence is in
Rhode Island not
Maine!! Do I get a
gold star from my
American
friends?!?! Anyhoo,
thanks for all the
info people I
apreesh.
