I recently picked up this cool oddball item. Can anyone tell me what this is from? It looks like a tag from something? It measures roughly 7"x7".

It looks like it is not 'from' anything. It is just what you see it to be, a cardboard picture. Here is a similar one on eBay, still in the package:

1988 Tara Play Ball Plaque. There was some question at one point whether or not there was a 1989 set, but I think that has been put to rest. The actual players available doesn't 100% match the players listed on the back of the packaging.

I was working at a toy store (86-92) when these were released. We had a ton of the things. I forget if they did an '89 set or not. I just recall we had a ton of the things. Like many of the sports stuff around then I think it did well when first released, but after about a year it was difficult to get rid of the final left overs and the store I worked in was already a discount toy store.

Those were in here I believe. I'm pretty sure I added a scan for my Ozzie Smith one, but I don't see them now. They must have been removed.

They were removed because they are not trading cards, weren't inserted in a card product, nor were they made by a trading card manufacturer. If a "set" doesn't meet one of those criteria, it is not permissable to be listed here. (This info is in the FAQ.)
