The unnumbered ones could be 'replacement' cards. When companies make serial numbered cards, they always print extras without SN's so they can replace any damaged ones sent back to them. They just stamp the matching SN on one of those and destroy the damaged ones. When a company folds or sells off all assets, replacement cards go too. Then they end up in the secondary market when they shouldn't have.
