Kidding! Just a fun card I found today and thought I should draw a little attention to it.
Congrats to Piazza and Griffey.

The one only made it to the big leagues because of his father and the other only made it because he was drafted as a favor to the family.

I believe those would be the 2016 HOF inductees. :D
Congrats to Ken and Mike on making the Hall and being enshrined forever. Both totally deserved it. EVERYONE knew Griffey Jr. would make it in his 1st year, but I am a little surprised that he got the highest percentage of votes in history. I said "a little"! I am more surprised that Jeff Bagwell had such a high number of votes. He just missed the mark of going in too.

Well deserved. Congrats to both. If it weren't for the limit of 10 names, Griffey might have been the first unanimous selection. I assume the < 1% of writers left him off to vote for others that they didn't consider automatic on this very crowded 2016 ballot. I honestly don't think I've EVER heard anyone have anything bad to say about Ken Griffey Jr. And I'm glad I can say that I saw both of these men play in person.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Wrong assumption, I'm afraid. I think there are still a few voters--fewer each year--who think no one should get in at 100% because, well, Babe Ruth and Cy Young didn't.
Years ago I predicted Greg Maddux would get the highest percentage ever. Totally non-steroid pitcher with 4 Cy Youngs and a ridiculous number of wins in steroid era. I was wrong. No dis on Seaver, but I'm glad Griffey is #1 now.

Kind of like the year James Monroe won all the states in the presidential eleciton, but one elector voted for John Quincy Adams anyway, so George Washington would remain the only unanimous president. Your explanation makes sense. The mindset of the voters behind it does not.

Two more players to move from my star players I collect to HoF I collect. No surprise on Griffey; a bit surprised on Piazza.

I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie. I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).

Costas and the guys on MLB Network were saying that a few voters probably figured Griffey was in either way, so they put their extra vote to a guy who needs any he can get to stay on the ballot in future years. Strategic voting...

I'm continually entering tradeable inventory. Full want lists are at https://thecollectivemind.blogspot.com/p/baseball-wants.html Use the green tabs to navigate. Have entered 1994 thru 2021 baseball and 2009 thru 2020 football so far. Don't have many newer than 2020 except A&G in baseball, and very little beyond 2019 in football. My extra hockey is older than that. The best I have for a tradelist otherwise is https://thecollectivemind.blogspot.com/search/label/Disperse%20the%20Hoard
