Card Identification Forum

Someone recently added a variation of the first set of 88 cards listing variation (a) as yellow writing and listing variation (b) as brown writing.  If this is true for all 88 cards of the set, shouldn't this then be a parallel set and not a variation.  All of my cards have the yellow writing, but when I just looked at my cards in the data base, some are variation a and some are variation b,   so now I have to reenter the entire set including wants and trades.  Any ideas????? And what is your opinion on the variation/parallel listing??

If every card in the set has the same variation then it's a parallel not a variation. But there are 266 cards in the entire set and only the first 88 cards have the variation.

Series 1 of the set had like 6 printings. The first 2 printings had the brown camo in the shield, the packs even had it on the wrapper, followed by the yellow lettering. Bit confusing to try to understand this set, as there are also UK, and Australian versions of the set. Also a couple different factory sets were made with different stock and finishes.

I wouldn't consider any of them to be parallels, as the other 2 series don't continue that trend. I only know of 2 printings of each of them with 5 variations in series 2, and 2 errors with corrections in series 3. One day I'll try to add what I have, but need to get them all together before I do.

The whole set is a mess in the DB as well, and I can understand with the way it was released. Yellow shouldn't be listed as "A", the 3rd printing began yellow. Also there is no brown of #7 Gen. Merrill A. McPeak, his card didn't show up until the 4th print. If there is one, I'd like to see it.
