There's nothing on the back of the card just 1947 we think it's a minor league because of the ml but we have no idea who this player is.

Is that "W.L." on his jersey? I'm digging through old minor league teams but haven't found anything that matches that yet.

I tried coachs for the womans league, and the western league. But have found nothing. There is an old bars add in the back and someone sais thwy saw a 30's car in the back also. Idk

My first thought when I saw this is that it was NL and it was Negro League. I'm not sure and have no basis, but it just looks to me like an N and the shadow of his folding arms make it appear to be a W or M. If this is the case, you could try tweeting the Negro League Museum and maybe they could help you out, sorry I don't know how to reach them.

I"m just as confused as the rest of you. I generally agree with what Jupiterhill said. For me at first I thought it might be a "W", then as he says it could be an "N" with the shadow in his armpit making it look like a "W". Thinking it as an "N" I thought it could be "National League" but I don't know when they first used "N.L." for National League on jerseys. Plus it looks more like spring training or sandbox baseball which would match with it possibly being a minor league "team".

If those initials are for anything, they're going to be for the team's name or location. If it's NL it could stand for New London as in the New London Raiders of New London, Connecticut.

Back then it could be for anything, an industrial team, a city league team, school team, etc.
For what it's worth, there was technically never a "Negro League". There were various leagues of various levels for black players, but "Negro Leagues" was just an umbrella term coined to generically refer to any of them pre-integration.
