Card Identification Forum

Does anybody know the difference between these cards?  Per Beckett, this whole set is serial number to 100 but the card in the database is serial numbered to 24. The other scan is currently on ebay.

The hand numbered is most likely from the 2005 National Pastime Buyback Game Used set.  It' is a set entirely made up of buybacks from seemingly random previous Fleer products with hand numbering.

I hate the term "buyback" in this case.  Rather than being buybacks, the Fleer Pastime cards appear to be "leftovers", cards that were leftover from the original distribution.

I agree Joe, they didn't have to buy anything 'back', they had the card all along.  Press Pass often used the term 'Archive Edition' for that type of release, which I thought was an appropriate name.

Regardless of what they called it, it's nice to know that they actually issued some of the replacements on hand, instead of just tossing them. That HAS to be what it is, if the original was SN and the "buyback" is not printed, but hand numbered, right?
