These cards are from three different reprint sets of 19th Century tobacco cards from Card Collectors Co. Each is the first cards in the set. The original sets, all of which are in the database under multi-sport, had 50 cards of various "champions." CCC reprinted only the baseball players in the sets, about 10 each. I would like to add the reprints to the database but their is no indication of what year(s) they were reprinted. Does anyone know for certain?
From the left, 1887 Allen and Ginter World Champions
1888 Goodwin Champions
1888 Allen and Ginter World Champions
Thanks.

From what I’ve seen the reprint sets are typically listed under the year of the sets they are replicating.

If you look under 1912 baseball there is an example there

rmpaq5 -- that is my understanding, too, and virtually all of the reprint sets of the 1970s and 1980s which I own follow that pattern, although randylaw is right about 1912. That's why I'm looking for the publication year of these reprints. The 1887 and 1888 set files show no reprints anyway.

I’ve run across more in the early 1900’s for some reason so that was my point of reference. 1912 was my first hit for an example. I think the year the reprint came out should be the year listed here also. I do like a reference to the original set year too.

These inconsistencies should be brought to Admin's attention so they can be changed one way or the other.

Could it be that the original set's date is used when the reprint date is unknown? Seems like the next most logical place to file it in lieu of better info.

I think that this was a topic of debate when Round The Diamond joined. From memory, he collects a lot of these sets and added several checklists. Maybe he remembers how Admin wants these done. I sure don't.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Additionally, many things that were initially impossible for the database to handle are now routine. Please check with Admin directly to see how these should be handled at this point in time.
