I just wanted to give a shout out to the dawgs on their first Div II basketball championship. Up until Saturday we were probably most famous for a Playboy model who dated Mr. Trump and was offered money for her services, allegedly. Back when I first went to school there we were most famous for our Pharmacy program and a hockey team that played in the same conference as MSU and UofM. When I finally went back we had reached university status and a buddy and I would search seat cushions to try and find spare change to chase the Ripken F face cards. At that point I had probably not bought a pack of cards in 5 years since my money was going to support a wife and 2 kids at the time. Last I looked I saw a few Bulldogs had hockey cards and possibly a baseball card. Our basketball team did have a transfer from the 79 Spartans by the name of Jaimie “Shoes” Hoffman but I doubt anyone will remember that somewhat famous reference.

Yes, Congratulations indeed to FSU. My alma mater lost Friday in a heartbreaker to the Fighting Irish inthe Frozen Four playoffs. This does make me wish we could list a college for our profiles.

Agreed. Who knows we may find someone who attended our schools or have some rivals out there.

Cool story! I almost went to Ferris State to play college football. It was one of my final 3 schools. Went up there to Big Rapids to do a combine style workout for the coaches. Nice campus in a small town. I would say the most famous alum would be George Ryan the 39th Governor of Illinois. As I reside in Illinois, Ryan spent more than 5 years is prison for federal corruption charges.
Congrats to the Bulldogs on the basketball championship! Always brings me back whenever I see or hear Ferris State!

I was offered a tryout for football up there but messed up my knee during high school basketball tryouts and didn’t think it was ready at that time. If not for that offer I probably would have gone to a bigger school but I did enjoy the small town feel and got to know some of the professors pretty well when we went back later in life.

The school dropped baseball in 1994, but in the 70's the program was pretty strong in the NAIA. They won the Distrct 23 (Michigan) championship 4 times in 6 years, but couldn't quite win Area 6 to advance to the NAIA College Word Series. Jim Command and Carmen Falzone were major leaguers from the school.

The baseball coach was a really nice guy. I spent a good amount of time at the field house and shot the breeze with him a few times. I ran into him about 8 years ago at an all star game in Port Huron and I think he was still coaching the Alma College baseball team then.

Judd Folske was the coach from 1984 to 1994, then indeed coached Alma from 2008 to 2012. He also coached Central Michigan from 1998 to 2002.
