If it’s related to trading cards — and the death of someone on a trading card is close enough for me — post whatever you want. And I’ll just skip 70% of the posts. That’s pretty much how open forums (fora?) work.
It would be nice if people only shared information they verified, however. (Abe Vigoda IS dead now, by the way.)

I for one was taught by (stuffy old) english grandparents that it is good manners to make comment when a death is brought up. If only out of respect for the person who died. I give a simple condolence on a post and if I have a bit more to say do be it. I for one look at it this way I read about 1% of baseball / football posts because I simply do not see the point. (for me as a hockey guy) If Kaline does not like it he can have his say on here no different than the RIP people. Other than that I would guess that about 95% of my posts are ignored anyway. =)

I thought the point was a rant about when people erroniously post that an athlete, or celeb has died when it hasn't been confirmed or was just a rumor. With the internet now anytime a celeb goes to the hospital it is posted by someone somewhere and if they are older it is interpreted as them being on deaths door and dying. People only remember the first couple of reports not the follow ups. That is why often times when an older celeb really dies some 5 years after a serious trip to the hospital people think "I thought he died a few years ago". (thus the Mandela effect).

I'm laughing because Kaline6 is the first to post whenever a Tigers related person passes. And that is his right.

I generally skip over 99% of the "RIP" posts, because I usually have nothing to add or don't even know the person. I can understand, though, that some people feel the need to a.) post that the death ocurred, or b.) post a comment, memory, etc about the person in memorandum. To each their own.

Yes, becsause their death had some meaning to me and brought back some memories. It wasn't just to be the first to post about someone who died and had a card in the data base, or even someone who wasn't even dead yet. 90% of you missed the whole point of my original post. I know I will take flack for anything I post from now on, but that's the price I'll have to pay. Pile on folks.Sprry to those who were offended by my comments. Still laughing tho.

I get his point. I work at a place where two women obsess over bad news, and anytime somebody in town dies, it's like a race between them to be the first to tell the rest of us about it. When I had Twitter, I noticed the same thing. Somebody famous dies, and people can't wait to type out "R.I.P. John Doe" as though the deceased is going to see theirs first and there's a prize involved. I find it a general annoyance in life. Especially when it turns out to be a falsehood.
just today, I told one of those two women, after hearing about five murders and another plane with a cracked window, "tell me some good news or don't talk to me." She had to think real hard, but came up with the two Korean leaders shaking hands.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
