I watch the show religously as i want to learn about my non-terrestial relatives. I think Aliens were here b4 Humans, are here now, & will be here when Humans wipe themselves out or be taken out for the 3rd or 4th time in Earths history. The government tries to hide the TRUTH about Aliens because they dont think Humans can handle it & the world as we know it will change for the worse. I think there,s some Humans that can,t face the truth and it will prove that religion was based on mis-understood Aliens & thier amazing technology & poss. higher brain power that allowed them to do amazing things, and religions fear that Humans will stop giving them $$$$$$$ since they lied about thier being GODS. I think the being you call jesus was killed by Humans but was a clone that was sacrificed and the real one was exchanged for the dead clone and Humans were fooled into thinking he was brought back to life. Any way you look at it, jesus was an Alien/Human hybrid because the being you call god wasnt an Earthling
S.E.T.I. the search for extraterrestial intelligence isnt picking up any signals because thier tech. is sooooooo advanced we cant & dont know how to detect the signals which prob. arent like radio waves which radiate 360 degrees and thier tech. uses a directional signal which only goes where they send it, not everywhere like radio signals Humans use
I was brainwashed catholic when i was younger but my brain has dried out & i now know religion was based on mis-understood Aliens as a means to keep Humans in line & basically good beings.

I watch the show too. Going back to when it was on H2. I was hoping History would keep the show when they sold H2 and it became Viceland. I was pretty happy when AA started airing on History Channel. I'm still on the fence about aliens (past or present) though. It's possible we were visited long ago by some highly advanced civilization, but I don't really believe we are being visited now. If we were visited in ancient times, we are now those aliens. They would have surely merged with us.
Interstellar travel is highly unlikely just because of the sheer vastness of space between stars and the time it would take living beings to get from one system to another. A ship would have to be big enough to have thousands of people living on it and that generation (and maybe even the next one and the one after that) would not be alive by the time it made it to another star system. It would also have to have massive amounts of radiation shielding, fuel, food and other supplies, and artificial gravity. Our bodies cannot take the extreme speeds it would take to get anywhere in only one generation, so gravity would be a neccessity. Our fastest current vehicles only travel about a quarter of the speed in one hour that light travels in one second. New Horizons (that went to Pluto) is traveling over 40,000 miles per hour while light travels at 186,000 miles per second.
I was part of the SETI @ Home program for several years. Whenever I wasn't using my PC but it was on, it was processing data from the Areceibo Radio Telescope. I'm sure they have a ton more data to process now that they also have the use of the Paul Allen Array. I don't do SETI @ Home anymore b/c if my computer is on, I'm using it. Plus, there are lots more background programs running on computers now than there were back then.
AA certainly makes compelling arguments for many of their stories. But some of them sound too fantastical for me to ever believe. I do like watching the show though and I'll continue to watch for as long as they make it.

I believe they have been, and still are here. But this is what I fear will happen when the offical first contact is made:
"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
Yeah, we'll all be screwed.

I was SOOOO tempted to make a Star Trek reference in my reply, but I wasn't thinking Borg! I would hope first contact will be more peaceful like when the United Federation of Planets makes contact with worthy civilizations. Or just one of the screw-ups where they accidentally make themselves known to the inhabitants of a planet and explain what's going on out there.

Threads like this are incredibly useful. Makes it easier to identify the crazy people without first having to get to know them.
I kid!

OK, good to hear your thoughts, even the negative message i got from someone about religion. You just cant compare our technology with a civilization that may have been around for poss. a million or more years. And they may know how to access or create "worm holes"
If THEY landed on the White House lawn, gov. would claim its just a movie prop or a hologram & deny it as they do regularly but ANYONE with a working brain will see the truth
I used to do SETI@home also

I thought this was going to be some question about Georgio Tssoukalos and someone pulling a card of his "Aliens" meme.

nice thread.
I watch the show occasionally, but do not believe everything shown. It is interesting though.
I do not believe your options about religion and Jesus, but I do not mind when folks disagree with me either..that is what a 'forum' is all about, agree, or disagree, just be civil (and in the proper section like this one is)

Great thread about a great show about a great theory. Or theories, really. For those of you not familiar with the show, take a look sometime. I think the best part about it is the verbiage used throughout. You'll occasionally get the folks who say "there's no doubt" or "[something] had to evolve from [whatever]". But the vast majority of the time it's "is it possible that..." or "could it be that..." or even "I think that...".
I try to approach everything with an open mind (I fail...I know), and like I said if you listen to the varioius theories presented and think about them a bit, they really make you wonder.
Meanwhile, I wondered the same thing as some of the rest of you when I saw the forum topic: "Are there AA cards out there? I need those!"
