I picked up a great vintage baseball book at a flea market lately.  "Baseball Personalities", by powers.  If your interested in some personal interviews and stories of some of the great players of the past you may want to pick up a copy.  copyright 1949.  It also has some great illustrations of the players i have never seen. I looked on ebay and was surprised to see there are several copies listed for sale.   A great read.   if anyone has a vintage book they like i would love to hear from you.   I dont know how to post a picture or even if you can,  sorry. thanks,   sleddman. 

Actually doesn't sound like a bad read. I'm guessing it's an insight into a slice of post-war, developing Americana. I can see it reflective of how players coud shape their images and keep their private lives to themselves. I'll try to give it a read. Sorry, I know not of any truly vintage books like that. I think the oldest one I've read if Jim Bouton's Ball Four.

Ball Four was so great, I read it in two days. Couldn't put it down.

Another fascinating read is Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty by Leerhsen. Really disproves a bunch of the stuff Al Stump made up in what has turned out to be an inaccurate hit piece. Doesn't exonerate the Peach from being a jerk completely, but it's a more accurate portrayal.
