What do the members think of the (baseball) cardinals firing the manager?
Next candidate fill from within like.bench coach Marmol. Or former cardinal Shumacher? Or wait to see if Boone leaves NY?
Cardinals are not being specific about the dismissal, but I bet it was either about the hitting coach that the front office loves. Or being critical of the FO about roster construction during/after trade deadline

I am in shock. The Cardinals had a good season despite losing in the wild card game.

I'm imagining taking a swing at Carlos Beltran. Everyone else who was implicated in the Astros scandal has had their 2nd chance by now.

It was strange timing. It was just last week people thought he was in line for an extension. My best guess is it has to do with his bullpen usuage. Reyes was not a wise choice in the playoff game when Flaherty was still available.
I am not an Jeff Albert fan. I would love for McGwire to come back as the hitting coach, but that is not going to happen. As for the next manager, my money is on Stubby Clapp.

I'm also hoping for Stubby Clapp. A name that good needs to be spread everywhere.

Whatever it was, it had to be a significant rift. Shildt was a guy Mozeliak championed for years and years and years. If Mo told Shildt he needed to do something and Shildt refused, it must have surprised Mo, too. Those guys knew each other for a long time.
I'm in favor of hiring Skip Schumaker to replace Shildt.

I am a no on Beltran. I like Marmol better than Clapp and Skip. Will. See what happens. I think pitching coach Maddux is awesome and will work well with whoever wins the job.

I honestly think Beltran would be a pretty good manager.
but I'm still flabbergasted that the Cardinals fired Schildt. It came out of seemingly nowhere..,

What irritates me is they can him and say they want to go "in a certain direction" but they never say what direction that is. Been hearing that excuse for years. I look for the next mgr to be someone from within the organization ---Marmol or Clapp---whichever one is going to be a yes man for Mozeliak (who for sure needs to go).
