Just heard that Jerry Remy passed away, fighting his 7th round of cancer treatment.  Me as a huge Red Sox fan have lots of memories of him broadcasting and playing in the early eighties.  I even remember driving into Boston to watch a game and getting stuck in traffic beside his wife.  

This sucks. He's been such a trooper beating it and coming back to the booth better than ever. The applause the fans would give him speak to how much he's loved in Boston. I remember watching him play before Marty Barrett came along and listening to him broadcast was a treat. I just red in the below he threw out the first pitch in the WC game. If he was going to make a final appearance at Fenway, couldn't have been better.

Too bad to hear about the Rem Dogg he'll be sadly missed. Over the years he's become a familiar voice in my household it's going to be awkward watching the games and not hearing his voice to call them. R.I.P Remy

My only oppurtunities to hear Jerry Remy came when MLB Network would toss to regional coverage, but to me, he fits in the Red Sox scheme as smoothly as the Monster, the Citgo sign and the Jimmy Fund. He put the "Sawk" in "Red Sawks!" And he will be missed.
