R.I.P. Dick McAuliffe

Sorry to see the passing of Detroit Tigers 1968 World Champions second baseman Dick McAuliffe. He was the first second baseman for Detroit I remember as a kid. His unusual left handed batting stance, with the bat held high in the air, always comes to mind when I think about him. Another great from 68. Gone but not forgotten.

I saw him play on 6 August 1970, Yankee Stadium, Detroit vs New York double-header. It was a present for my 10th birthday and my first baseball game. I play in the Sacramento MSBL/MABL and our complex is called McAuliffe Field...I wonder if there is any coralation...? ------------------------------- *Bobbys Daddy*

No, it's named for Dan McAuliffe.
