When looking back into the history of baseball, one of the easier things to do is to learn about players inducted into the Hall of Fame. It is also easy to learn about players who are listed as All Stars. I believe the 1st All Star Game was in 1933. So anyone from before that time could never be considered All Stars. So this leads to me think that players from before 1933 who never made the Hall of Fame, are largely forgotten in history to the modern fan.
Does anyone have any examples of players who are not in the Hall of Fame but were all star caliber players that happened to play before the All Star Game existed?
Also on this note there are some modern players who for whatever reason never made the All Star Game either. One that always comes to mind is Tim Salmon who had some amazing seasons but will probably end up lost to history years from now since he is neither a Hall of Famer or an All Star.
