Unbelievable how fast this comes up each year (and I think Yahoo is starting them sooner and sooner).
It's time for renewing the TCDB Fantasy Leagues.
Andy (member BBCARDZ) runs a Head to Head Prize league. I will allow him to either add to this thread or create a new thread when he is ready to announce the renewal of that league.
Since the 2016 season, I have run the other (free, no prizes) league(s). We started with a single Rotisserie league, and have grown to 3 Roto leagues and 3 H2H leagues (the description of both will be at the end of this message). The issue I have with this is the fact that to be commisioner of a league, you also need to have a team in that same league. So while this has been a source of great amusement for me for about 7 months of the year, it's also not feasible any longer. I will organize things this year to start, and remain in 1 Roto league and the 3 H2H leagues (I think I sustain 4 teams), I will be relinquishing the commissioner role for the Roto leagues to my good friend Jerry (member Colengco90). (Now it will be 3 of us to coordinate the drafts in the 7 leagues, but we are aware of this and will do the right things.)
So now that you know the history of our leagues, I am now looking to see if anyone would like to join our leagues. (If you wish to join the Prize H2H league, please wait to respond to BBCARDZ's post.)
Please send me a PM here with "Fantasy Baseball 2024" in the subject and in the message itself, please let me know which type of league you would like to join (Roto or H2H). Chasing people down to answer that simple question has taken way too much of my time in the past, so if you do not specify, I will default you to Roto. Pleaee note that joining both types is an option (please just say that you'd like to join both). I am going to set a deadline for signups for midnight Sunday. March 3rd. On the 4th, I will PM you with the link to sign up for the league(s) you will be joining. This allows us time to get the leagues balanced based on the amount of new people (and those that will be leaving us).
Speaking of leaving us, when managers do not participate in the league, they are not permitted in the following year. (This is essentially the only requirement for returning.)
Additionally, if you want out of a league (one or all), please PM me regarding that as well. We certainly don't want to make life any tougher than it already is. Also, if you're already in one league and you wish to join another league, this is certainly welcomed as well. Again, just send me a PM here and we'll get you all set up.
Thank you,
Dan & Jerry
Rotisserie (or Roto) - 10 or 12 offensive and pitching stats are totalled throughout the entire season. Depending on how many teams are in your league, you score points for each statistical category based on your standing within your league. In a 10-team league, first place gets 10 points for category, second gets 9, and so on until last place gets 1 point.
Head to head (or H2H) - Same premise as the Roto leagues (10-12 stat categories) but you're only going against 1 other manager each week. You either Win, Lose, or Tie in each category. What matters near the end of the season is how many of these categorical wins/losses/ties you have, NOT how many weeks you won. The last few weeks of the season are reserved as "playoffs" and the top teams play each other to win the season. (Many times, the statistical leader does not win the season.)
