I have been wanting to attend a Reds opening day game for a very long time. My son lives in Cincinnati and got two tickets from a co-worker. They were way up nosebleed (Third deck, 2nd row from the back, behind home plate). Other than a log jam of traffic while parking, everything else was great. Sitting with my son, who is also an avid Reds fan, sunny weather and an opening day win left me almost speechless. If I had a bucket list, I just crossed off #1 on that list. I will remember this day and game forever. Go Reds!

Ahhh, I remember my Opening Day games. Been to 2. Saw the Padres open in 1995 at the old Jack Murphy Stadium and the BoSox open in 2002 at Fenway. The Fenway game was a dream for me and not just because it was my beloved Sox opening. Pedro was the starter when he was at the height of his powers...and pitched his worst game of the year. But his starter counterpart was Chris Carpenter (still a Blue Jay; before his greatest days as a Card.) whom I played against in high school.
Good times. Glad you enjoyed it.

Very envious! I've never made it to an opening day game.

Opening Day is so much fun! My parents would drive us 5 hours across the state of Texas to get to the Rangers home opener (it means more to me that they could care less about baseball) and it is some of my best childhood memories.

I also got to go to my first Opening Day this year. At Comerica Park to see the Tigers beat the Athletics. It was a good time, but I'd rather go in mid May when the weather is nicer and most of the people just going to the game to party have lost interest in baseball. Fun experience, I'm glad I went, but I probably won't do it again.

Opening Day in Cincinnati is a bucket list item for me too! My brother lives across the river in the Fort Mitchell/Crescent Springs area. Unfortunately, Opening Day falls right in the middle of our college season, so it's difficult...maybe someday.
Glad you got to enjoy it! Going to be an exciting season in Reds country!!

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Well done! I have yet to attend an opening day for the Red Sox, primarily because it always seems to fall on a work day and tickets were impossible to get. Now that the, ah, management has made it so that the team is not as enticing as it once was, tickets are more available. As long as the team doesn't win too much this year, maybe I will finally take that day off next year to go. Thanks for the inspiration!

1986 Detroit vs. Boston. Dwight Evans goes yard on Jack Morris' first pitch of the season. Not a good feeling but witnessed history. Only time it's ever happened..EVER. Thank goodness Gibby had a great game w 2 HRs. Tigers won 6-5.
