That's correct, Dan. Younger brother Frank had a distinguished 30-year career as Houston city councilman. Gus Mancuso's grandson attends my church.

A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

Sorry! I kept forgetting to ask a new question.
Many of us remember the hype around Pete Rose's hitting streak back in 1978 (at least us old folks do).
Who has the longest hitting streak since Pete's amazing run, what year, and how many games?

I believe it was Paul Molitor and around 43 games or so.

Wow, that was quick. You're correct on the player, but not the amount of games (well, if you count the "or so", and what your definition of "or so" is).
Pete's was 44. Molitor's was not 43.

I always liked Molitor even before he came toToronto and helped win WS #2 for the Jays. He played the game the way it should be played. I sent you the real # of games in a message.

OK, sandyrusty - you're up. It was Molitor with a 39 game streak in 1987. (He sent that info in a private message.)
