We're certainly not mourning the death of Manson, and while "In Memoriam" may not be applicable for everyone who's ever had a card made of them, I'm concerned about the sentiment about not listing images for certain people. Are you going to start deleting entries for Robert E. Lee, Fidel Castro, Aaron Hernandez, or Kevin Spacey?
If you want to wait a few days so not to give them any more notoriety on the front page, fine, but please don't turn this place into some PC rabbit hole.

I don't think (hope not) that is the the intent. There wouldn't be any cards left other than the cartoon characters; and maybe even some ofthose would be offensive to some.

I think someone earlier stated the way the "In Memoriam" works is when someone enters the date of death on a PID, the system takes the 5 (or 6) most recent ones to post in the "In Memoriam" section. The way to avoid this in the future for despicable beings in human form is to wait awhile before attaching the date of death to a PID.
I'm wondering what about when O.J. Simpson dies? Should he be included when it is his time or not? Some would say NO blankityblank way. Some card collectors don't want anything to do with him and have gotten rid of any OJ cards they might have had. Others for the sake of their set completions or team sets, or just indifference to the "private lives" of players hang on to theirs.
We shouldn't have to worry about the long deceased creeping onto the "In Memoriam" list, only the departed within the last week or so.

Hi Folks, I hope my comments don't place me in the wrong light. I did my onsight research and I noted we have 100s of cards depicting notorious gangsters, serial killers, world leaders and more that have performed or directed heinous, despictable acts. Maybe because of his recent death, he becomes the poster child for "in Memorium" recognition. He certainly should not be acknowledged in any way...Did we react the same way when Hussein or Bin Laden were killed? Removing or deleting cards of "deplorable" but iconic characters is not a good idea but postponing the date of death is certainly a good idea. Maybe it's a good idea to postpone posting date of death for all questionable individuals. Really, how would we treat OJ or Spacey? What did we do when Aaron Hernandez just died? I guess I was a little surprised to see 3 pages of posts. ~BOB~

Actually, that pitcher the other day, who I mentioned played for my hometown team, did time for putting a hit on a couple guys (including his nephew if I remember right). But he got caught and the job wasn't carried out.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Yeah I remember that pitcher, the 1 IP guy. Hey we can all throw arrows right, where to draw the line is difficult, there are two NHLers that killed people who went on to lengthy successful careers but they did not outright do it in cold bood. If your not in the loop, Craig MacTavish killed some drinking and driving when he was a rookie (I think) with Boston and Dany Heatly killed his buddy Schneider when he totalled off his Ferrari(?), can not remember if there was alcohol involved. In these cases they both did their healing and continued through life. It is a wicked web we live and sometimes your life can be salvaged, for others such as Manson et al, they are just vile evil people that we must keep reminding ourselves of to make sure others don't do the same. Are we succeeding? You be the judge.

I think in this case with our front page, the "In Memorium" was not intended to celebrate those who should not be celebrated. Thankfully, this is really the first case where anyone even said anything. The spot wasn't there for any of the other people mentioned in some of the other posts here. I remember when Aaron Hernandez was up there, but no one said anything. I also think he was gone from the page pretty quick.
I see we lost David Cassidy. When he moves to the last spot on the right, it'll be safe to re-add the death date.
Edit: And it's not a case of "editing history". We're just intentionally not celebrating someone who should not be celebrated (and apparently, we all agree on that).
