  When I was younger  and I worked in an oil refinery in Phila (5 minutes to stadiums) I would take a winter vacation and go to the SUPER BOWL. Warm weather and a game up to half time most the time.  

 Now a days I look forward to it  because ...........

Baseball Spring training starts next week.

Nice post.  I saw the forum title and tried to think of a way to kneel for you, but then realized that I'm in complete agreement.

I spent superbowl Sunday registering my nephew for his 5th season of Little League and making sure he was up-to-date on his clothing and equipment.  It cost me about $400, but well worth the cost to support his participation in America's Pasttime.    

Baseball season is back on until November.  Jones, Guerrerro, Thome, Hoffman, Trammell, and Morris to the Hall this Summer. 

I'm currently in the process of moving from a short-season A town to a AAA town.

I have spent many a night behind home plat calling balls and strikes from little ones up to NCAA games..  

I have spent many a summer night in some town watching a minor league game along 1st base line stands.  

AAA hmmm  be good to get out to one.

A minor league manager had all the players form a circle,  take a look at each other,  3 of you may make it to the major leagues, 1 will start almost every game and maybe a star too. The other 22 of you here are here so those 3 can play a game.

I too prefer the first base side of the field. Not sure why, but I always have. Currently on a quest to watch a full game at each Midwest League stadium (Low-A). I always, always buy tickets first row, first base side. I read somewhere once that everyone has a "spot" where they prefer to watch a game, and everyone is different. Some like 1B, some 3B, some centerfield, it all depends. 

When it comes to Major League games, I'll take the cheap seats; landed four outfield tickets right above the Reds bullpen at Busch Stadium last year for about $20 a piece last season. When it's something like that, I can definitely deal with not being on the 1B side.

My spot in a baseball stadium is in a seat. Any seat. :)

Really, I have sat all over the place, even at the local Class A short season stadium, and I don't care where I am, as long as I can see. And I've been known to stop and watch teams I don't know, levels I don't know. I've been to NY-Penn, Eastern, Florida State (when it was Class A), Florida State (as Class A Advanced), and Southern League games. No Rookie level or AAA level. And been to plenty of MLB stadiums (12 that I can think of). A seat is all I need. And I even went to the NY-Penn League All-Star game in 2016 with a SRO ticket (there were some chairs available, I got there early and snagged one).

I have always been a 1st base line guy. Always at section 117 or 119 for Baysox games, 1-2 sections from the end of the dugout. I’ve sat 1st base side in Bowie (AA), Frederick (High-A), Harrisburg (AA), Southern Maryland (Ind.), York (Ind.), UMBC (college) and Baltimore. I tend to sit on the third base side at my home stadium (Joe Cannon) and the stadium at vacation (Rebel Park) because that’s the home dugout side. Of course, I no longer sit there as I ran the scoreboard last year and hope for a spot in the press box next season.

I only sat in the box suites at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs games.  Harrisburg Senators were kind of cool on that little island.    

Ist base side because that is what my dad bought when we went to Connie Mack Stadium in the 60's. 

Now I do.  no matter where I am.   In Greeville SC  I made a 5 yo friend sitting next to me.  we shared peanuts   soda   hot dogs.  His mother felt bad that eat  the hot dog I had him hold for me as I sat down.  I told her don't worry about   "In Phila a soda cost more then all this stuff put together, so this is cheap" 

I guess my favorite spot varying with the stadium, how it's positioned with the sun, and ticket prices.  In this Short-Season A town, I had season tickets in the front row and just a little off-center to the right.

I actually sat front row twice for Blue Crabs, once against Lancaster, where I talked to Steve Clevenger, who went to the same middle school I went to, and Lastings Milledge, and once against Sugar Land where I talked to some former Baysox and Felipe Rivero. It was during Hurricane Harvey, though, and Gary Gaetti stayed in Texas. I find the Blue Crabs to be a little pricey as single game tickets cost more than AA Bowie about 30 minutes down the street. City Island is a cool place, but parking is a pain.
