Ironically, Gene Carr passed away four days after Monahan. Both were involved in a trade between the Kings and Penguins. L.A. received Hartland Monahan and Syl Apps Jr. while Pittsburgh received Gene Carr and Dave Schultz.
Although Monahan was only with the Kings for one season, I do remember listening to a Kings game on the radio against Toronto in which he scored two goals in a sixteen-second span. I remember the call by Bob Miller on the second goal going something like "Monahan all alone in front, again, he shoots, he scores!" Don't ask me why I remember that particular goal.
RIP Hartland Monahan and Gene Carr.
