It seems like these are two different people with the same ID and tag

That's what we like to call a "dual-sport athlete".

Thank you Sun Devil. Appreciate the help and bringing forward some information to help me see that. I guess I have not seen a person go from the minors to college because of the NCAA rules. I wish other people were more helpful like you instead of making comments that do not help.

Well you're asking why two people with the same name have the same ID in two different sports. Michael Jordan has the same configuration. Bo Jackson has it too. Deion Sanders....the list goes on. Look at the top of their profile pages and you'll see multiple sports.

J.R. Smith played in the NBA from 2004-18 and is currently playing NCAA golf. Unfortunately golf doesn't get many cards so he's unlikely to get any in his second sport.
With Michael Jordan now owning a NASCAR team it's not outside the realm of possibility that he could soon get cards in a third sport. He already has one from 1995 but that doesn't count since it was just Upper Deck shoehorning their spokesman into their first NASCAR set. Now it would count but they have not bothered to include owners in card sets for a long time now unfortunately.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
