Beginning with the 2nd series set for 2015 Garbage Pail Kids (aka 30th Anniversary), a new numbering system was instituted that has prevailed for 4 consecutive sets now:
*2015 Series 2: 30th Anniversary (12 subsets totalling 220 cards)
*2016 Series 1: American as Apple Pie in your Face (9 subsets totalling 220 cards)
*2016 Series 2: Prime Slime Trashy TV (16 subsets totalling 220 cards)
*2017 Series 1: Adam-geddon (9 subsets totalling 180 cards)
These 4 sets constitute what many are now calling the 'Themed Series', because they are being release with a themed title instead of a 'yearly' or 'series' designation. I also like to refer to these sets as the 'Subset Series', because of how they're being numbered. Originally, GPK sets were released beginning from the number after the last number of the previous set. Afterward, GPK sets were numbered independently from the previous sets so that all new releases began with #1a and #1b.
Now, GPK sets are being released as a combination of multiple subsets, meaning that there are as many #1a and #1b cards as there are subsets. This may have led to some confusion with how these sets were originally listed on this site (base set or insert), but I've managed to fix 3 of the 4 sets.
As of this post, 'American as Apple Pie in your Face' is still being listed as an 84-card base set with the other 8 subsets being listed as inserts. As the largest subset in all 4 of the 'Themed Series' releases, I understand why this might be confusing, but the complete set should actually be listed as a 220-card set consisting of 9 subsets. The subset name is identified in the NOTE 2 column. The card numbers are shown below:
*As American as Apple Pie (#1a of 42, #1b of 42, #2a of 42, etc.)
*Americana Swept under the Rug (#1a of 9, #1b of 9, etc.)
*Americana Devolved (#1a of 9, etc.)
*2016 Presidential Candidates (#1a of 5, etc.)
*American Icons (#1a of 9, etc.)
*American Inventors (#1a of 9, etc.)
*U.S. Historical Event (#1a of 9, etc.)
*America's Pasttimes (#1a of 9, etc.)
*2016 U.S. Summer Olym-Picks (#1a of 9, etc.)
