Can somebody with knowledge of this set confirm that some of the scans don't go with the base set? First, the sample picture doesn't match any of the base cards. Different design, portrait instead of landscape, and doesn't exist if you look at all the base card scans. I'm not even sure how that card was an option to add as the sample card. Second, most of the cards have a big hole in them, but one of the cards scanned into the base set has a shiny circle there. I don't know enough about these to know if that card is the wrong scan, or if the other ones are wrong scans. It's only a 30-card set and isn't a complete gallery. so there are either 2 mistakes here, or about 15 mistakes, depending on what the base cards actually look like.
I didn't look at any inserts or parallels. They may be a mess too. I have a feeling it might get into gold/bronze, and as you all know I'm colorblind, so I won't even bother to look.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Looks like the picture of Mike Piazza (#17) is wrong. It belongs in the Bronze set.
The checklists are set up with the die cut set as the base cards and the Bronze set as a parallel. It is kind of a toss up as to which should be which. This product had different insert ratios for Hobbby and Retail. If I remember correctly, in one type of packs the diecuts outnumbered the bronze cards, and in the other type it was the other way around. I could be remembering that wrong though.
Yes, somehow the sample card is showing up from the Bronze set.
[edit] One nice characteristic of this product: you don't have to guess the difference in color between Bronze/Brass and Gold. Any gold versions of the cards or coins have wording to that effect included in the design.

I know that they are not always right, but I remember the hockey version when they came out, and the card with the hole is the base card (and they seem to be correct on this set). Then there were Bronze, Silver, and Gold parallels of the card. There was also the coin, which was Brass as the base, and different parallels to the coins. See the table on the page I linked.

This is my bad. I started scanning them in and I mixed them up. I have to dig my Pinnacle Mint cards out and fix them...unless somehow someone else can submit different scans. I am OK if someone else did it.

I had a HD failure a while back and lost the scans...so I can't just get the images from my PC.

No problem Duane; sounds like only the Piazza scan was wrong anyway. And I've definitely made my fair share of mistakes when scanning parallel cards. What a strange set though! Was it possible a collector could get a Cal Ripken coin in their pack, but not get a Ripken card to put the coin into? Or were they certain to match within the packs?

This error occurred in the 1997 sets as well. I had Admin move the images to the right sets. I found it all confusing as well when I first encountered these - wondering if there is a card with a silver or gold foil or if it is the diecut card with a silver or gold coin (never seen either). As it turned out, it is both. A 30 card set that has 120 different cards and 90 coins.

No guarantee to have coin matching cards in the pack.
