1992 Topps McDonald's Baseball's Best Baseball Forum

Can anyone verify the existence of the two asterisks (**) variation for any card numbered above #33 in the 1992 McDonald's Baseball's Best set?    I've been looking for the Chito Martinez #40 card for years and never seen anyone with that card or any others from #33-44.  I personally don't think they exist.  No one on the site has posted a picture of any of those cards with the (**).  Do they need to be deleted from the checklist?

We had 2 different members report that the entire set had both asterisk varieties.

If you are correct, it really ticks me off that they reported that without the proper support and research. 

I have all the variations through 33 but none above.  I’ve looked at times over the years and have never found any - would not be surprised if they did not exist.

I looked at the Thome as an example. Once member was on this site for a whopping month and last logged in nearly 3 years ago. So, yeah. The other is active, reach out and ask to confirm is my suggestion.

I've never found a 2* Van Poppel, which is the only one I've really looked for.

There's an eBay listing that offers both variations but the 2* only goes to 33

I just picked 2 players in the upper range and went through 50+ listing on eBay, not ** for them tha tI found.

Just check ,my collection and I do not have any card from No.33 and up. Sorry I cant help in this mystery

As a follow-up, both members that reported the VARs both logged in today, so they are still very much active on the site. Would love to hear from the one of them about the research they did to "confirm" the WHOLE set. (The other, in his defense, said that he wasn't sure if it was the whole set and we closed it because we lacked the info needed.)

There also seems to be members that have the 2 * cards above 33 in their collection. You could reach out to them and confirm if they have the * or ** variations and update their collections if appropriate. They also could be some overlap with the members that reported the variation for all cards in the set. Some of the cards have more than 2 members with that card in their collection.

I just checked my set - no ** variations over #33 - a mix up to and including #33
