2000 Upper Deck Legends Baseball Forum

I noticed this set has a gold /1 and a /100 per the checklist.   I also see where some are listed for sale "without serial number" and are much more expensive.  

can anyone tell me anything about those without serial numbers and why they are so much more money?  were they made in error? how many of each without serial numbers were made?  is it known?

Assuming it wasn't just a printing error where the stamping process was missed, card companies often make backups of limited cards just in case someone complains about a damaged card from the packing process, and although they aren't supposed to reach the public through other means (like "backdooring"), sometimes they do. I'm not sure if these parallels you're talking about were released some other way, but if backdooring was the only way these got out, they're extremely limited and people ask higher prices on them, but they aren't necessarily worth that much.

I believe all of the ones you are seeing without serial number are of the gold 1/1s.

I sure don't hold with "backdooring".
