Haha here we go again with these buybacks! I don't think anyone has really even come to an agreement on this 100%. I have one card from the 2017 Topps flagship set that I listed there, and another I pulled from a Heritage pack that I listed there.
I would think the correct thing to do would be to add a "Rediscover Topps Stamped Buybacks" set to the A and G as well.
My suggestion (which I think some people are actually following) is to list the buyback under the release you pulled it from. However, if you get a loose buyback card that you don't know what set it came from, to just list it under the flagship.

Would it be so wrong to disregard where the cards were pulled from and instead treat them as parallels of the original issue? For example, 1976 Topps would have a parallel for "2017 Rediscover Topps Stamped Buybacks - Silver".

Hmm, I can see how that would be an option that makes sense, but sounds like it would be a lot of work and might bother people seeing all these random parallel sets with a single card or two in them. I really wish admin or someone would make a final decision on these so we can all follow the same guidelines.

If I remember Admin's answer correctly, they go under the flagship set. But, as long as the card number is entered as is on the card it can be found in a search if other "buyback" sets are put into the database.

So dumb that non-A&G buybacks are put into that product

Ok guys it was a simple question topps has over 2 million Rediscover cards that are real cards from those years Topps said they are ceaning out their vault; I have several sets with these cards in them all different players. Each set Topps flagship set (s) and other sets have had these rediscover card placed into the sets. I just wanted to know if there were going to be a listing in the A & G listings of what cards were in the set simple right; I like to keep the cards I pull from that set together this way when my super master sets are completed all the cards are together for that set including these rediscover cards. You guys need to drink more coffee LOL.

I guess for collectors in the future it will depend on how they receive these cards. If they bust open an old 2017 A&G pack and pull one they would most likely first check in the '17 A&G inserts to see if they are listed there. If they got it from another source say from Ebay or in a stack of cards from a trade they would probably scratch their heads and first look in the original vintage production year.
Me personally I wouldn't bother. I'm not interested in these, but if I received one and heaven forbid actually wanted to keep it and catalog it I'm not sure where I would look. Technically the card is vintage, but "marked".
I wonder how do the grading companies handle these things? They probably do inspect them but do they label them as authentic but not gradable?
This is one of those oddball "square peg in a round hole" database dilemmas.

The Rediscover is just a way for Topps to clean out the warehouse. They come as "inserts" in mulitple 2017 sets but not one is from a 2017 set. I have a 1992 John Franco. Should it be in a 2017 set? No. It is a card that was printed in 1992. It belongs with the 1992s but doesn't. Luckily for me is I have no use for these cards.

I just pulled one from the new Allen and Ginter. (If anyone wants my non-baseball cards, they're up for sale/trade if you want them). I think we should make a separate listing for all the colored buybacks as Topps Buyback: Bronze
Topps Buyback: Red (etc). Have a hidden 2017; so when people search for their cards in the future they can find them easily.
