So I was at a Walmart and they had those Holiday boxes. Being in Canada and that baseball cards barely ever exist here I picked one up. Happy with my "hit" as it was a Tiger, but the last pack I openend had 3 idetical Miguel Santo cards and 2 identical Michael Pineda cards in it. This is the first time I have ever opened a pack that I can recall and had doubles IN THE PACK, let alone 5 of the cards in a 10 card pack being doubles of each other. Anybody else ever have this happen?

I've gotten doubles and triples from repacks sometimes back-to-back, but I don't recall getting dupes in the same pack in regular packs. Sometimes in blasters I will get 2 packs that have the exact same 5 cards (or 8 or however many cards were in the packs). I don't recall getting duplicates from one regular pack.
Years ago I recall seeing an article about some guy who back in the day (50s or 60s) pulled a rare 5 of the same card in one pack. It was either of Mantle or Ted Williams. 5 cards from the same pack. I seem to recall reading this in a card magazine around the early 1980s.

1990-91 Skybox Basketball was the worst I ever experienced. I remember openening multiple packs which had the same card 6 or 7 times, and even one pack only containing 15 copies of the same card.

I got many packs with duplicates in the pack in last year's holiday issue from Topps. They seem to have some sort of pattern to how they colate the set, because by the time I finally got the last 2 cards I needed to finish the set, I had 5 complete sets minus those same two cards from each.

Star Trek Series 2 in 1991 had duplicates in he saem pack. I went through a whole box and found this issue multiple times.

I bought two boxes of 93 Donruss BB at a steep discount. I thought I'd be able to get a near-complete set out of it. Nope, not by a long shot. My dupes/trips/quads pile was nearly as high as the actual set. Same issue, some packs had dupes in them either back to back or frnot and back.

Agreed with the Upper Deck statement. In some years, it was unusual if you didn't get duplicates in a pack. Wild Card was bad too. I don't recall ever having 3 of the same card though.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I remember buying a box of 1991 UD football. Every single pack had a duplicate in it. One of them had three of the same card in it (it was a checklist, too).

Being pedantic guy, but I think the word you're looking for is "collation" and I'm not sure it fits this context.
